Next weekend, the 25th edition of the Maroc Challenge kicks off in Erfoud, where administrative and technical scrutineering will take place. With more than 170 vehicles entered, the event consists of six demanding stages, from Sunday 29 March to Friday 3 April.
This will be one of the most adventurous and challenging editions of the Maroc Challenge: extremely demanding, with more sand and dunes than ever before in the 24 previous editions, and with clearly defined levels of difficulty depending on each category. The route designed will live up to expectations.
In addition to the Erg Chebbi, which will be crossed in full on two occasions, as well as the dunes of Ouzina and the Erg Chegaga, new and unexplored sandy areas have been added to the route. Over six stages, with Erfoud as the northernmost point and Foum Zguid as the southernmost, participants will also cross vast plains featuring fesh-fesh sections, river crossings, sandy tracks and faster, more technical sections. The majestic landscapes are also worth highlighting, offering participants the chance to fully experience the adventure of this Spring 2026 edition.
As expected, the routes are adapted to the different categories. This edition will start with a demanding loop around Erfoud, and the second stage will take participants to Zagora, the starting point of the third stage, which heads further south to Foum Zguid, crossing Lake Iriki and the Erg Chegaga before reaching M’Hamid. The traditional bivouac night, at the end of the fourth stage, will take place in Sidi Ali, near Lake Maider and the village of Tafraoute. The fifth stage marks the return to Erfoud, with the Maroc Challenge concluding after a sixth waypoint navigation stage alongside the legendary Erg Chebbi.
