Just a few weeks after the Winter edition 2017 has concluded, our team is already working at full throttle to prepare for the upcoming Spring edition 2018. The event will take place from the 24th till the 31st of March, and is loaded with important novelties.

The most important change is the format for the route. For this Spring Edition and for the first time in the history of the Maroc Challenge, the whole event will take place along routes looping around Erfoud. Thus, the Spring 2018 edition will consist of a prologue (with a link stage to descend from Nador to Erfoud) and five stages, four following a track and one with waypoints. You can consult the itinerary and stages in more detail on the Maroc website.

This loop format means a total change from previous editions. For the first time, the MAROC is not itinerant! Which brings important advantages.

We avoid the descent stages with many kilometers of road. This edition’s route will be almost 100% offroad, with stages of dunes, sand riverbeds, off-piste and fast tracks; And we will spend all week in the same place, avoiding changes of hotels or campsites. In this way, we reduce a lot of weight in the vehicles: suitcases, food, solidarity material and even heavier spare parts.

Regarding the stages, although the route traverses some of the best landscapes in almost all the editions of the Maroc, and we will obviously pass through areas we have enjoyed in previous editions, the routes will feature 100% new itineraries. Those who are veterans of the event can see the new routes by following the recconaissances that will be carried out at the end of January .

This will probably be one of the most intense and hardest editions of all, mainly for the raid category. Already in the last edition teams suffered with the introduction of the laces of dunes, in this edition we have incorporated even more …

The routes are going to be more tailored than in any previous edition, and they will be very demanding for both the 4×2 and the SUV categories. The average length of each stage is between 200 and 450km of track each day.

This edition will be a challenge. It is not going to be easy to reach the finishing line but, this time more than ever, participating is going to be an achievement in itself.

We take this opportunity to remind you that if you cover the registration payment during the first two weeks, you can benefit from a significant discount on registration fees. So don’t waste time and sign up as soon as you can.

See you soon!
